WHERE TO FIND PEAR-FRIENDLY HIKING PANTS

Since I live in NYC, its safe to say that I’m not the most outdoors-y person. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy the occasional hike and weekend getaway from the city. One of my favorite day trips I’ve taken was last fall with my sister when we went to hike Breakneck Ridge (in upstate New York). It was a wayyy more intense hike than I thought it would be, but the views were amazing and worth the effort. For the hike I just wore some fleece-lined leggings.

However, recently I had a reader reach out about where to buy hiking pants that are pear-friendly! I realized that was a good question. I had no idea since I just wore leggings in the past whenever I went hiking. So I ordered hiking pants from all the major brands I could think of: L.L. Bean, REI, Eddie Bauer, etc. to find out which pants would work best for my body type! The good news is a lot of these brands offer petite sizes! Keep on reading to find out which styles I recommend :)

WIT & WISDOM PETITE JEANS REVIEW

A few months back, one of my readers reached out to me and recommend that I try out Wit & Wisdom jeans. Prior to this I’d never heard of the brand, but I’m always down to give a new pair of jeans a try. Happy to report that this brand makes super comfortable, pear-friendly jeans that won’t break the bank! Keep reading for the full reviews of the styles I tried.

WHERE TO FIND PAPER-BAG PANTS WHEN YOU'RE PETITE & PEAR SHAPED

Recently, I had a reader reach out about where to buy petite paper bag pants. This an item I’ve struggled to find as well. I’ve only found one pair from Topshop a few years back that I truly love. You might notice reading this post that I only sharing style from two different brands, however these were the only ones I could find that I genuinely liked. Further proof that petite ladies always have less options to choose from :(

MY 3 GO-TO SKIRT STYLES AS A PETITE PEAR

Perhaps a more appropriate title for this blog post is - if you got it, flaunt it :) When I was younger, I used to feel embarrassed about my curves I was constantly wishing for a smaller butt and slimmer thighs. My goal was generally to hide these parts of my body rather than show them off. Now that I’m a bit older and wiser, I’ve learned to love them. Which brings me to the real purpose of this post - SKIRTS! They are an amazing way to show off your pear curves whatever your personal style might be. Keep reading for my favorite silhouettes and styling tricks!

3 WAYS TO STYLE OVER THE KNEE BOOTS & LOOK TALLER

Living in New York, I’ve found that having a decent pair of over the knee boots is a necessity. Not only are they necessary for beating the cold, but they’re also an easy footwear option that pair well with most outfits. I will say the New Yorker in me does have a strong tendency to buy black, but hopefully you’ll spice up your wardrobe more than I do :)

I’ll go ahead and admit right now that I don’t have any hard and fast rules about what style boots I wear for my body type and height. At the end of the day for me, it mostly comes down to personal preference and style. However, there are still a couple of tricks that can help you look taller, which never hurts!

INVESTING IN MY WARDROBE: RAG & BONE BOOTS REVIEW

Last year I realized that I wanted to start investing more in the pieces in my wardrobe (ranging from clothes to footwear). There have been a number of fast fashion items in my closet that I’ve truly loved from a design perspective, but sadly they have worn out after a year or two. Personally, I’m someone who likes to find classic yet trend-forward and interesting pieces that will last me more than one season. While on my blog in the past I’ve highlighted a lot of different trends each season, I’ve realized through the process I prefer to have a more consistent style. (Plus I seriously don’t have the energy to shop all the time!) Don’t get me wrong, I still love trying out new trends from time to time, but I’ve learned that my overall personal style is less defined by following all the latest trends.

LEVI'S JEANS REVIEW

If I had to pick one denim brand to wear for the rest of my life, it would probably be Levi’s. Personally, I find their denim to be some of the most pear-friendly out there. Their Mile High Skinny Jeans were legit the first pair of jeans I ever bought that didn’t have a waist gap when I put them on. It felt like a small miracle in my books!

Another thing that I love about Levi’s jeans is that they use a men’s sizing scale. This gives you so many more options to choose from compared to most size scales for women's jeans. This is how men's sizing works if you are not already familiar: the first number listed is the waist measurement and the second number listed is the inseam (or length measurement). Typically Levi’s offers women's waist sizes from 24’’ – 34’’ and inseam lengths of 28’’, 30’’, 32’’ and 34’’, which gives you more flexibility to find one that will work well for your body type.

Over the last two years I’ve finally found the styles that work best for me from Levi’s so I wanted to share them all with you :)

WHERE TO FIND THE COMFIEST, PETITE-FRIENDLY LOUNGE PANTS

Recently one of my readers asked where to buy petite lounge pants. I have to admit it’s not a category I had shopped for in a while so I decided to order styles from some of my go-to petite brands like Old Navy and Athleta. I also tried out some lounge pants from L.L. Bean, which I completely forgot carries petite sizes. Keep reading all the way to the end because there’s a wild card option listed :)

WHERE TO FIND DRESS PANTS WHEN YOU'RE PETITE & CURVY

It’s been awhile since I’ve had to wear dress pants. I probably have worn them since I was working at my first job out of college for Macy’s. Dress pants have always been a difficult category for me to shop for because of my curvy thighs and bum. At times I’ve found it challenging to find pairs that fit properly and are also flattering. (Also doesn’t help that I’m shortie too).

Recently, I had a reader reach out about where to find petite-friendly dress pants. Since I hadn’t shopped for a pair since college, I had to hit the stores to see what was out there. Overall, I had the best luck with J. Crew’s dress pants, which kind of made sense because that was my go-to store in the past. However, if you are looking for more affordable options - Old Navy is a great place to look.

5 TIPS TO SIMPLIFY SHOPPING FOR SHORTS

I find that shopping for shorts can be tricky with my body type! The most common issues I run into as a petite and pear-shaped lady are: waist gaps, tightness in the hip area, and shorts being too short since I have a bigger bum. In order to avoid these issues I’m sharing some of my tried and true shopping tips to help make the process easier for you.
