Everywhere I turn on Instagram, I see cropped wide leg pants! I really love how this style looks on others, but I haven’t been totally sure about how to translate it for my body type and height. After trying on a bunch of different styles across brands, I came up with three simple tips to help simplify your shopping if you’re petite and pear-shaped like me.
1. Look for high-rise styles (Front rise measurement 10’’ and higher)
2. Look for pants with a more tapered leg opening
3. Look for pants with inseam lengths between 22’’ and 25’’ (if you’re about my height of 5’ 2’’)
Recently one of my readers asked where to buy petite lounge pants. I have to admit it’s not a category I had shopped for in a while so I decided to order styles from some of my go-to petite brands like Old Navy and Athleta. I also tried out some lounge pants from L.L. Bean, which I completely forgot carries petite sizes. Keep reading all the way to the end because there’s a wild card option listed :)
It’s been awhile since I’ve had to wear dress pants. I probably have worn them since I was working at my first job out of college for Macy’s. Dress pants have always been a difficult category for me to shop for because of my curvy thighs and bum. At times I’ve found it challenging to find pairs that fit properly and are also flattering. (Also doesn’t help that I’m shortie too).
Recently, I had a reader reach out about where to find petite-friendly dress pants. Since I hadn’t shopped for a pair since college, I had to hit the stores to see what was out there. Overall, I had the best luck with J. Crew’s dress pants, which kind of made sense because that was my go-to store in the past. However, if you are looking for more affordable options - Old Navy is a great place to look.
