REFORMATION WINTER COLLECTION REVIEW

REFORMATION WINTER COLLECTION REVIEW

Reformation is a brand that can be very hit or miss me. Sometimes styles fit very well and other times don’t seem to be cut for my body. Over the past couple times I’ve shopped, I find that I have the best luck with their dresses and tops. Recently I had the chance to visit their store and check out their latest pieces - keep reading for the full reviews of everything I tried on.

Reformation Billy Sweater - Size S

What I loved…

  • Length - Even though this turtleneck sweater is not a petite size, the length was perfect for my short torso.

What could have been better…

  • Slightly see through - The white color of this sweater is a little see through. However, Reformation also offers in black and pink so I’d recommend trying in one of those colors instead.

  • Sleeves slightly long - The sleeves were a bit long for me, however you could easily fold the sleeves under to fix that.

Garment measurements:

Center front = 21.5’’

Bust = 37’’

Sleeve = 29.25’’

Center back = 23.75’’

Verdict: Buy, but fold up sleeves and pick a different color.

Reformation Zelda Dress - Size 6

What I loved...

  • Length - This dress is supposed to be a midi length dress, however since I’m petite it’s a maxi length dress for me. But I kind of love it!

  • Sleeves - They were just the right length for me!

What could have been better…

  • Bust area too big - I’m not sure how to best describe this issue, but I found the fit of the bust area a little strange. It’s hard to tell based on the way I took this picture. However, the top is kind of billowy above the waist (like a blouson dress). I’d prefer the top of the dress to be more form-fitting.

Garment measurements:

Bust = 36’’

Waist = 28’’

Center back = 48.75’’

Verdict: Buy!

Reformation Langley Top - Size S

What I loved

  • Wrap silhouette - This is one of my go-to silhouettes as a petite, pear-shaped lady because it highlights my curves.

  • Length - I loved the cropped length of this top because it fits my short torso perfectly. This top would look great paired back to high waisted jeans.

What could have been better...

  • Slightly big in bust - This top was slightly big in the bust area for me. However, it’s a common issue I experience as a petite pear due to my bust being smaller than my hips.

Garment measurements:

Front neckline drop = 11’’

Center back = 21.5’’

Verdict: Buy!

Reformation Gracie Dress - Size 6

What I loved…

  • Fit and flare silhouette - As I’ve mentioned before on my blog, this is one of my favorite silhouettes as a petite pear because I find it really compliments my shape.

  • Length - Similar to the other dress styles I reviewed, I found the length of this dress works well for my stature even though it’s not technically a petite size.

What could have been better…

  • Bust area too big - I experienced the same issue with this dress that I did with the Zelda Dress. The top part is billowy above the waist (like a blouson dress), however I wish it was more form-fitting.

Garment measurements:

Center front = 30.5’’

Bust = 35’’

Waist = 28’’

Center back = 33.25’’

Verdict: Buy!

Reformation Beatrice Dress - Size 6

What I loved…

  • Length - Even though this dress is not a petite size, I found that length worked well for my stature.

  • Sleeve length - The sleeves were just the right length for me!

What could be better…

  • Shoulder area slightly loose - I personally found the shoulder area a little loose. It felt like the shoulders of the dress kept wanting to fall down. However, since they are elastic that definitely helps them stay up. So I think it might of just been me not being used to the style. I’d recommend wearing this dress with a strapless bra because the neckline is so open.

Garment measurements:

Bust = 35’’

Front center skirt (from waist line) = 16.5’’

Verdict: Buy!

Reformation Violet Top - Size S

What I loved…

  • Print - The leopard print is top is amazing! Love how fierce it looks!

  • Length - Since I have a short torso, I often find that button down tops are too long for me if they aren’t a petite size. However, I found this one was just the right length.

  • Fit through hip area - The other fit issue I frequently encounter with button down shirts is that when they fit my bust area they are often too tight in the hip area. Luckily I did not have that problem with this top. It’s curve friendly in my opinion.

What could be better…

  • Sleeves too long - The sleeves were wayyyy to long on this top. So much so that they completely covered my hands. (Sleeve length = 34’’)

Garment measurements:

Center front = 25.625’’

Bust = 38.5’’

Sleeve length = 34’’

Center back = 25’’

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around.

Reformation Carina Dress - Size S

What I loved…

  • Wrap silhouette - I picked out this dress because I find this silhouette flattering for my pear shape. The v-neckline helps to emphasize what little I do have in the bust area :)

  • Print - Really love all the animal prints (snakeskin, leopard, etc.) that Reformation is carrying right now!

What could have been better…

  • Length - Technically it’s supposed to be a midi length dress for regular height people, but it’s a little longer for us petites. I wish this dress was slightly longer so it looked like a true maxi dress versus a high-water length.

  • Bust area too big - I found the bust area was too big for me on this dress. This is a common issue I experience with my pear shaped body since my bust is on the smaller side.

Garment measurements:

Front neckline drop = 11.25’’

Center back = 42.5’’

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around.

Reformation Jilly Skirt - Size M

What I loved...

  • Petite friendly length - Even though this skirt doesn’t come in a petite size, I found the length works well for petites.

What could have been better...

  • Thin - I will say this skirt is really just a glorified piece of fabric. I’d recommend wearing spandex shorts underneath because it’s not the most secure. The skirt completely unwraps.

Garment Measurements:

Center front = 16.75’’

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around.

Reformation Joni Top - Size S

What I loved...

  • Cropped length - For non-petites, this is probably a crop top but for me it was a regular length top! My recommendation would be pairing back it back to a pair of high-rise jeans or pants because of the length. (Center back = 20.25’’)

What could have been better...

  • Keyhole detail - I thought I’d be a bigger fan of this detail than I was. I wish the keyhole wasn’t as plunging because it was definitely necessary to wear sticky boobs with this top otherwise your bra would show. Also perhaps if my torso was not as short it would have looked better.

Garment measurements:

Bust = 32’’

Center back = 20.25’’

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around.
