Hi.

I'm Kristin! A short & curvy girl seeking clothes that fit. Originally from the South, I'm now taking on NYC! My blog is dedicated to providing style and fit guides for petite-pear shaped women.

IS OUTDOOR VOICES CURVE FRIENDLY?

IS OUTDOOR VOICES CURVE FRIENDLY?

While Outdoor Voices uses plus models such as,  Barbie Ferreira and Lena Dunham is known to wear the brand, I still couldn’t help but wonder is Outdoor Voices curve friendly? In some ways I think no because don’t offer plus sizes (hopefully they will in the future!), but in some ways in think yes. My initial experience with the brand was kind of meh. While many people I know rave about the brand, when I first tried on their famous tri-colored Springs leggings I was not in love. They are made out this fabric that is a little stiff and in my opinion kind of itchy so I wasn’t totally sold the way everyone else was. I definitely had to do somewhat of dance to get the leggings on period. However, this was about two years ago so recently I decided to give them another chance since they have been releasing some new products recently.

Outdoor Voices TechSweat 7/8 Flex Legging - Size M

What I loved…

  • Super silky soft - Compared to the Springs tri-colored leggings, these leggings feel amazing and are super soft! I loved them! These were easy to put on - no dance required!

  • Drawstring waistband - I was so happy these leggings has a drawstring waistband because usually I have a problem with leggings fitting properly in the waist area and staying up when I go running. However, I can report that these leggings fit well in the waist for us pear-shaped ladies, but I would still use the drawstring for when I go on runs.

  • Petite-friendly length - Since these leggings are more of a cropped length, they ended up being normal length for me! (Inseam = 23.5’’)

Verdict: Buy!

Outdoor Voices TechSweat Crop - Size S

What I loved…

  • Super silky soft - Just like the leggings, this top feels amazing! Again, I like this top better than the Athena Crop, which is made of the same fabric as the tri-colored Springs leggings.

  • Nice length - Since I have a shorter torso, I wasn’t sure if this top would be too long on me. However, I found it was an ideal length and still showed off my stomach. In the future, I’d love to see more full length tops made from this material because I’m not in the mood to show off my stomach all the time.

Sizing Notes: I’m wearing a size Small because my bra size is typically a 34A.

Verdict: Buy!

Outdoor Voices Relay Short - Size M

What I loved…

  • Lightweight & airy - These shorts were super comfortable! It almost doesn’t feel like you are wearing them because they are so lightweight.

  • Curve friendly - I thought these shorts might be a little tight through the hips, but they were nice and roomy.

What could be better…

  • A little short - I wish these shorts were a little bit longer (Inseam = 3’’). I really only see myself wearing these in the height of summer when it’s hot outside, but not a deal breaker.

Verdict: Buy!

Outdoor Voices Exercise Dress - Size S

What I loved…

  • A-line silhouette - This is one of my go-to silhouettes as a pear-shaped lady because I always find it flattering!

  • Light & airy - Just like the Relay Shorts, this dress was made out of a super lightweight fabric! It was really comfy!

  • Petite friendly length - If you’re a shorty like me, you can still pull off this dress because it’s a nice length and falls above the knees.

What could be better…

  • Tight in chest area - I found this dress to be a little bit tight in the chest area when I was taking it on and off, but once I had it on that feeling wasn’t as noticeable.

Verdict: Buy!

Outdoor Voices 7/8 Springs Leggings - Size M

What I loved…

  • Fun color - I’m obsessed with the colors that Outdoor Voices launched this season! I kept seeing the pink ones on Instagram and knew I had to try them on even though I didn’t super love this style in the past.

What could be better…

  • Slightly long - While these leggings were a little long on me (Inseam = 26’’), I’ve seen worse so I wouldn’t let this hold you back.

  • Tight - Due to the stiffer nature of this fabric compared to the TechSweat tights, I’m still not totally sold on these. They only have 14% Spandex versus 17% in the Tech Sweat tights. Also the reason the TechSweat ones feel so soft (and sort of like a bathing suit) is because they are made out of Nylon.

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around for similar styles

Outdoor Voices Athena Crop - Size S

What I loved…

  • Cropped length - Similar to the TechSweat Crop, this top was an ideal length for me because it still showed my stomach (even though I have a short torso).

What could be better…

  • Tight - Same deal as the Springs leggings, I find the fabric a little stiff so it’s hard to take the top on and off. Also it feels a little restrictive when I’m wearing, which makes me not want to wear it working out.

Sizing Notes: I’m wearing a size Small because my bra size is typically a 34A.

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around for similar styles

Overall, I think Outdoor Voices is somewhat curve friendly, but they’ve got a ways to go. There new TechSweat leggings are a step in the right direction (aka more Spandex please!). Would love to see them continue to launch new products and size ranges in the future.

Are you guys a fan of the brand? Let me know!
