REFORMATION SUMMER CLOTHES REVIEW

REFORMATION SUMMER CLOTHES REVIEW

IMG_0986.jpg

Recently, I had the chance to check out one of Reformation’s newer stores in NYC (their Bond Street location). All I can say is, WHOA! It was seriously like a store from the future. Rather than picking up clothes off the clothing racks and schlepping them to your dressing room, they have touch screen monitors where you can pick out what you want to try on and everything is brought to your dressing room. It was such a nice change from the usually experience of shopping in stores in New York.

During my trip to Reformation, I tried on a bunch of different styles so I could review them for you guys :)

After trying on basically the whole store (jk! But it felt like it!), there were only 3 styles that I really loved. I feel like every time I go shopping at Reformation, I get really excited because all their clothes are super cute. However, when I actually try them on I feel like the fit is slightly off for most styles. Generally, the fit is off enough where I can’t justify spending $200 on a dress if I don’t LOVE it. Does anyone else feel this way about Reformation?

DRESSES

Reformation Finn Dress - Size 6

What I loved…

  • Structured silhouette - Out of all the clothes I tried on at Reformation, this one was hands down my favorite. I love structured dresses because they highlight the narrowness of my waistline relative to my curvy hips.

  • Length - If you’re a shortie like me, this dress works well because it’s not too long!

What could be better…

  • Straps were too long - I’d need to get this dress tailored to shorten the straps.

Verdict: Buy, but would need to get it altered or tailored.

Reformation Abby Dress - Size 8

What I loved…

  • Tie back - My favorite detail of this dress was the bow that ties in the back.

  • Fits well through hips - I found this dress complemented my curves well.

What could be better…

  • Too big in the bust - This dress was so cute, but I ran into one of my classic pear problems wearing this dress. While the dress fit well around my hips, it was too loose in the bust. If I went a size down, then the dress would probably be too tight in the hips.

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around for similar styles.

Reformation Lucky Dress - Size M

What I loved…

  • Wrap style - As I mentioned in an earlier post, I love wrap style dresses because they are classic and sophisticated. This silhouette plays up my pear-shape.

  • V-neckline - I find this neckline very flattering since I have a small bust. It highlights what little I do have :)

What could be better…

  • Too large in bust - Similar to the Abby Dress, this dress was too roomy in the chest area. If the fit wasn’t an issue, then I’d be tempted to buy it.

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around for similar styles.

JUMPSUITS/ROMPERS

Reformation Coconut Jumpsuit - Size 6

What I loved…

  • Silhouette - The cut of this romper is so much fun for summer! I love the defined waistline because it emphasizes my curves.

  • Curve friendly on the bottom - I was pleasantly surprised how well the bottom part of this romper fit me. If you have curvier hips, this romper is spacious enough for them.

What could be better…

  • Too tight in bust - It’s rare that I ever have this issue, but the bust area was too tight for me. I found it difficult to button all of the front buttons. You can kind of see it in the picture that the fabric is pulling around the top buttons.

  • Straps too loose - If I were to buy this romper, I would definitely need to get the straps adjusted because they were too long.

Verdict: Buy, but would need to get it altered or tailored.

TOPS/BLOUSES

Reformation Dandy Top - Size 4

What I loved…

  • Fit like a glove - Out of everything I tried on, this top fit me the best!

  • Cropped length - Y’all know by now that I love cropped length tops! Since I have a short torso, they end up fitting like a regular shirt on me. I probably would pair this top back to high-waisted shorts or jeans.

Verdict: Buy!

Reformation Edita Top - Size S

What I loved…

  • Peasant style - I picked up this blouse because it looked casual and comfortable. Also I thought the peasant-style neckline was cute.

What could be better…

  • A little baggy - This top was a little more oversized then I expected. I’d prefer if it was more fitted.

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around for similar styles.

Reformation Strawberry Top - Size S

What I loved…

  • Length - If you have a shorter torso, the length of this top is just right. It fell right at my hips.

What could be better…

  • Tie front - I’m having a little bit of a love/hate situation with this top. My favorite detail of this top is the cute little tie, but this part of the blouse lays kind of funny when you wear it.

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around for similar styles.
