LEVI'S JEANS REVIEW

LEVI'S JEANS REVIEW

If I had to pick one denim brand to wear for the rest of my life, it would probably be Levi’s. Personally, I find their denim to be some of the most pear-friendly out there. Their Mile High Skinny Jeans were legit the first pair of jeans I ever bought that didn’t have a waist gap when I put them on. It felt like a small miracle in my books!

Another thing that I love about Levi’s jeans is that they use a men’s sizing scale. This gives you so many more options to choose from compared to most size scales for women's jeans. This is how men's sizing works if you are not already familiar: the first number listed is the waist measurement and the second number listed is the inseam (or length measurement). Typically Levi’s offers women's waist sizes from 24’’ – 34’’ and inseam lengths of 28’’, 30’’, 32’’ and 34’’, which gives you more flexibility to find one that will work well for your body type.

Over the last two years I’ve finally found the styles that work best for me from Levi’s so I wanted to share them all with you :)

MY DENIM RATING SCALE

Length: 1 to 5 (1 being not petite friendly, 5 being petite friendly)

Fit: 1 to 5  (1 being not curve/pear friendly, 5 being curve/pear friendly)

Waist Gap: 1 to 5 (1 massive waist gap, 5 no waist gap)

Price: $ to $$$$ ($: under $50, $$: $50 to $99, $$$: $100 to $149, $$$$: $150 and up)

Levi’s Mile High Rise Super Skinny Jeans – Size 28 x 30

What I loved…

  • Extra high-waisted - These are by far the highest rise jeans I own and I kinda love them! To give you a reference point, generally high-waisted jeans have a front rise measurement of 10’’, but these jeans have a front rise measurement of 11’’. Let back it up a little because you might be wondering - what is a front rise measurement? The front rise measurement is the distance from the top of the waistband to the crotch seam. (If you’re interested in learning most about how to measure denim, I recommend this guide here.) The reason I love wearing high-waisted jeans is because they flatter my pear-shaped figure. Generally when I try on either low-rise or mid-rise jeans, I find that by the time I find a pair of jeans that is able to fit over my hips and butt then they are way too loose around my waist. (#waistgapproblems) Therefore, I find high-rise denim is a great option for pear-shaped women because the jeans are designed to hug your waist so you aren't left with a waist gap. I love how these jeans highlight my curves and also make me feel comfortable because I’m not worried about them falling down.

What could have been better…

  • Slightly too long - The jeans I’m wearing are a Size 28 x 30 so the waist measurement is 28’’ and the inseam (length) measurement is 30’’. I’ll be honest these jeans are a little bit too long for me since I bought a 30’’ inseam, but this pair was the only size I could find in the store. I would have preferred to buy a 28’’ inseam jean. After looking online too, I realized this is the shortest inseam that they offer.

Levi’s 721 High Rise Skinny Jeans – Size 28 x 30

What I loved…

  • High-waisted – The Levi’s 721 High Rise jean has a front rise measurement of 10’’, which is 1’’ lower than the Mile High Super Skinny pictured above. Since super high rise denim isn’t everyone's cup of tea, the 721 is a great alternative. This jean is one of my go to styles that I wear to work because it hugs my pear shape well and doesn’t leave a waist gap like low or mid rise jeans.

  • Skinny leg shape – Another feature I like about the 721 High Rise Skinny jean is that it’s not as tight and fitted as the Mile High Rise Super Skinny version because it's made from a thicker denim material. Levi's 721 might be better suited for you if you’re looking for a jean that feels like a more relaxed fit, but still is a skinny leg shape.

  • Gray color - If you guys have been following my blog for a while, you have probably noticed that I really love gray. It’s one of my favorite neutral colors because it matches a lot of other pieces in my wardrobe, but it’s a little more exciting than just defaulting to black.

What could have been better…

  • Slightly too long - Same deal as the Mile High Super Skinny jeans - these ones are a bit too long for me. I would have preferred a 28’’ inseam. The good news here is that Levi’s carries this style in multiple inseam lengths on their website (28’’, 30’’, 32’’ and 34’’).

Levi’s 710 Super Skinny Jeans - Size 28

What I loved…

  • Nice fit - I liked the way these jeans fit my curves. They are similar to the 721’s but they are a mid-rise jean versus a high-rise jean.

  • Multiple washes - Don’t worry these jeans come in multiple washes (from black to light wash denim)!

What could be better…

  • Slight waist gap - These jeans had a slight waist gap in the back. However, wearing belt with these is an easy fix.

  • A little long - These jeans were a little longer than I normally prefer, however it wasn’t a deal breaker. I’d recommend shopping on the Levi’s website to find shorter inseams.

Levi’s 311 Shaping Skinny Jeans - Size 29 x 30

What I loved…

  • Curve friendly fit - Time and time again, I find that many of Levi’s fits are some of the most curve friendly out there.

  • Not too long - Even though these are not a petite size, the inseam length works well for petite women. (PS. Levi’s offers in multiple inseam lengths ranging from 28’’ to 34’’).

  • Many washes available - Levi’s offers these jeans in a ton of different washes on their website so don’t be deterred because I have white pictured here.

What could have been better…

  • Tight in knee area - These jeans were slightly tight in the knee area for me. You can tell in the picture that the bunching fabric around my knee is an indication of tightness.

  • Slightly large in waist - I need to caveat this comment because I was wearing a size up from my normal size (28) in this picture. Ultimately, I think going down a size to a 28 would easily solve the waist gap issue. The only reason I tried on a size 29 was because it was the only one available at Macy’s. If you order your normal size, you’ll be fine.
