Hi.

I'm Kristin! A short & curvy girl seeking clothes that fit. Originally from the South, I'm now taking on NYC! My blog is dedicated to providing style and fit guides for petite-pear shaped women.

THE PETITE PEAR'S GUIDE TO SWEATERS

THE PETITE PEAR'S GUIDE TO SWEATERS

While most people look forward to Fall, I on the other hand do not. And I promise I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but the reason I dread Fall is because it means sweater weather is approaching. Sweaters have always been a more challenging category for me to shop because of my pear-shaped body type. For some reason, it seems like every sweater either makes me look super bulky or hugs my hips to too tight. Even though it can be challenging to find sweaters that fit well and compliment your body type - don’t be discouraged! Here are some of my tips for finding sweaters if you’re pear-shaped like me!

  • V-necks - If you have been following my blog for awhile, you probably know how much I love v-necklines. This is a great silhouette for pear-shaped women because it helps to accentuate a small bust if you know what I mean ;)

  • Loose or Flowy Hemlines - As a pear-shaped woman I have curvy hips, which need some breathing room. Therefore I opt for sweaters that have shirttail or peplum hemlines so they don’t feel too restrictive.

  • Belted cardigans - For most pear-shaped women, the waist is the narrowest part of the body. Personally, I love styles that show it off. Belted cardigans are great for us pears because this silhouette draws attention to our waists.

  • Petite sizing - Another reason I struggle to find sweaters that fit is because I’m so short (5’ 2’’)! When it comes to finding duster or tunic sweaters, I make sure to buy a petite size the sweater doesn’t overwhelm my short stature.

Hope that my tips will help you with your sweater shopping! Check out a bunch of my favorite sweaters that I added to my Desirelist board called “Sweater Weather”. See a sneak peak of my list below! You can sign up for Desirelist and create your own boards by clicking the link here.

Desirelist is very easy and simple to use. All you have to do is add the Desirelist button to Google Chrome toolbar and click the button when your on a retailer's product page in order to add the item to your list. Once you create a list it's like having a shopping cart that never expires and it's easy to share with your friends via social media. Would love to hear your thoughts about the platform in the comments below!
